Civex is a youth education startup founded in December 2020, aimed at improving the understanding of young Australians about their democratic system. Additionally, we seek to increase their participation in our democratic system.
More information on how we started can be found on the About page.
Yes, we understand that Civex is a bit of a stange name, but it describes why we are here: To create Civics Experiences. It is far from the first name we came up with. PolPart (Political Participation and Education Program) and Civstreet (a terrible attempt to give the program 'street cred') were the two main names for the organisation before we settled on Civex.
Although the program is designed to be used across Western Australia, we will limiting where we do in person presentations for the time being. Being based in Bunbury, we are happy to present in the South West and the Perth metro area.
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: We understand there are other 'life skills' areas where there is the potential to grow our offering. However, we do not expect to expand into other areas anytime soon.
Although it is our plan to develop resources suited to the Australian Cirriculum over the next few years, our current focus is on building the success of our Democracy 101 program.
Civex strives to make sure our presentations are accurate and up to date. Unfortunately, the AEC and WAEC have refused to review our materials due to their neutrality obligations. While we will be keeping an eye out for any changes to electoral processes, we cannot guarantee our programs are errorless. For the latest information, visit aec.gov.au or elections.wa.gov.au
As you might have noticed, our Democracy 101 program is tailored towards a Western Australian audience. While we will be solely focusing on WA for the time being, we look forward to being able to expand our program to other Australian jurisdictions in the future.

Does Pineapple go on Pizza?
Yes, and don't complain that 'fruit doesn't go on pizza' because you've most likely used tomato paste on pizza.
Do you keep sauce in the pantry or fridge?
Fridge, it's supposed to help cool your food down.
Is the Mona Lisa smiling?
Kind of. It looks a bit like a slight smurk.
Can Perth drivers merge properly?
No, that's why we're based in Bunbury and not Bentley.
Would you eat a raw onion with the skin on?
We are a nonpartisan organisation, and so we will not be answering that question.
